Today we snowshoed at Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park. Elevation at Bear Lake is around 9300 – 9400 ft. It was 14F with 30 mph winds, making it very cold. I don’t think my face has ever felt so cold.

Because of the cold, we just did a short little trip around Bear Lake, we didn’t venture up in elevation to Dream or Emerald Lake. Maybe next weekend!

I didn’t have my daily Diet Pepsi until 12pm today. I usually have this in the morning, when everyone else is drinking their coffee. Had to put it off today as I had a Dr. Appt, and had to do a fasting blood lab.

It is late, and I didn’t put enough thought into a photo today. I need to think more tomorrow.

My day began with a little excitement today.

Just before 6:00 am, I was downstairs on the treadmill, when the power went out for the entire neighborhood. Let me just say, it is very dark in the basement at that hour, with no power!

I made my way upstairs, ate breakfast by candlelight. I waited as long as I could hoping it would come back on, but it wasn’t cooperating. So I gathered as many candles as possible in the bath, so I could take my shower. I had plenty of hotwater, but no lights!

After I was showered and dressed, I continued to get ready by candlelight, and flashlight. Just before I was ready to leave, the power came back on. This saved me from having to deal with the garage door issues created by power outages.

I started my day with 40 minutes on the treadmill while watching the morning news. Until the weather gets a little warmer, and the sun comes up a little earlier, I need to make this a habit!

Today was the first day back at work after the winter holidays. I attended a workshop by Bernajean Porter to start my day. Just as I pulled into the Arvada Center, the sun was up over the horizon. It was a clear day, I could see Pikes Peak to the south.

Last day of vacation – yes I was working. My technical developers were emailing with questions….my content developers were emailing with questions. So I had the desktop on, and the tablet from work, on top of my laptop, fired up, and I was checking timelines to see who has what do this week.

I’m in the process of supervising 45 teachers who are doing curriculum development for 17 credits of online high school curriculum.

Joe and I spent most of the morning snow shoeing in the Brainard Lake area. It was a beautiful day at altitude, as you can see. When we returned to town, it was much colder, and overcast.
